How To Keep A Healthy Heart | World Heart Day

The 29th September 2016 marks World Heart Day and along with it comes a strong message of "Empowering people to be heart healthy"

Did you know over half (yes half) the adults in England have raised cholesterol and this isn’t set to a certain age group either, the young ones can have it too.
Cardiovascular disease is the worlds number one killer and that is why it's imperative to do everything we can to look after our hearts. The good thing is there are simple ways to help lower cholesterol and are main points for any healthy lifestyle such as keeping fit and active, stopping smoking, managing your alcohol intake and a good healthy diet.

There are actually quite a few cholesterol busting superfoods that you can add to your diet which include:
Soya Products
Fruit & Vegetables
Unsaturated Fats – Its vital to keep your saturated fat intake low to lower cholesterol

Using products with Oat beta-glucan such as Herbalife's new Beta Heart powder is a great way to keep heart healthy. Oat beta-glucan has been shown to reduce blood cholesterol and it can be used in any fit and healthy lifestyle.

So i'm going to share some cholesterol lowing breakfast recipes that I do to maintain a healthy heart using some fabulous oat beta-glucan products.

Overnight oats

This is a breakfast recipe I can't get enough of at the moment. The oats turn out very smooth, creamy and flavourful and it only takes a few minutes to make. It’s an easy recipe to have at home or take into work with you in the mornings.


100g of Oats
7 Tbs of Greek Yoghurt
Handful of Blueberries
Handful of Raspberries
Handful of Strawberries


Add oats, greek yoghurt and berries to the bowl

Mix until oats are completely covered in yoghurt and berries are mixed in.

Cover the bowl and leave in a fridge over night This is a very easy recipe to have at home but if you’re like me and take your breakfast into work with you in the mornings I suggest preparing it in a lunch pot.  

Beta Heart Vanilla Shake

1-2 Scoops of Beta Heart

300ml Almond Milk

A quick healthy shake to have with breakfast packed to the brim with oat beta-glucans.



1-2 Scoops of Beta Heart
600ml Almond Milk
1 Banana
Handful of Strawberries

Why not try a breakfast smoothie instead? Its pretty easy, all you need to do is make the shake as above then add banana & strawberries and mix up in a blender. Simples!!
