The Benefits of Using Coconut Oil

The Beauty of Coconut Oil

I first started using coconut oil back in 2013, when I came across it to help with my Psoriasis.

The fatty acids (Caprylic and Lauric) in coconut oil reduce inflammation internally and externally is moisturising making it a great solution for all types of skin conditions.

It protects the skin and has many antioxidants that make it ideal for healing the skin. In addition, the antimicrobial properties balance out the candida or fungal sources that can cause many skin conditions.
Ever since then I have kept Coconut oil stocked up in my cupboards, not only for cooking but for health and beauty purposes. It is such a great multi-purpose product which much great benefit.

So in this post, I wanted to share some of the benefit and way I use Coconut oil in my daily routines.

  1. Hair Conditioner- There is a lot of hair products now that contain coconut oil but I still like to use the real stuff. I run the oil through the end of my hair and leave in for a while before rinsing it out. Word of warning, be careful how much you use as your hair can become very greasy if you overuse, but if you get the right amount it will leave your hair feeling so soft and in great condition.
  2. Bath Soke – I also like to put a few scoops in the bath and let it melt. It really conditions the skin, leaving you to feel so silky and smooth.
  3. Body Oil/Lotion – Rubbing it over your body and using it as a lotion also leaves your skin feeling amazing and soft.

The Insides

I use Coconut oil for almost anything I cook nowadays, as it truly has some many benefits for your insides. Are here are just a few;

-Immune System Boost (antibacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-viral)
Coconut oil contains lauric acid, which is known to reduce candida, fight bacteria, and create a hostile environment for viruses. (MCFA = Medium Chain Fatty Acids)

-Improves Energy and Endurance
Coconut oil is easy to digest, but also produces a longer sustained energy and increases your metabolism. When taking a quality non-processed coconut oil, you can get the most benefit as it’s MCFA’s are sent directly to the liver to be converted into energy!

-Reduces Symptoms of Gallbladder Disease & Pancreatitis
I wish I had known this before I have my gallbladder attacks and finally removed.
The MCFA’s of coconut oil does not need the pancreatic enzymes to be broken down, so taking coconut oil eases the strain on the pancreas.
Additionally, this super fat is so easy to digest that it has been known to improve the symptoms of gallbladder disease as well. Replace other long-chain fats with coconut oil to improve gallbladder and total body health.

-Coconut Oil for Weight loss
Because of the energy creating abilities of coconut oil, it is no wonder that it is beneficial in losing weight. It helps to burn fat, decrease appetite and it studies it was especially helpful in losing belly fat.

-Building Muscle and Losing Body Fat
MCFAs aren’t just good for burning fat; they are also great for building muscle. The MCFAs found in coconut are also used in popular muscle building products.
