This Friday I had the pleasure of attending Maison Talbooth for Afternoon tea. Based in Dedham, Essex the Milsom hotels chain already has an amazing reputation for all 3 of their branches based their which include Maison Talbooth, Le Talbooth and Milsons. I have always wanted to visit them but never had the opportunity, so when going for afternoon tea was decided, there was a one and only choice for me.
Afternoon tea was served in the green room at the Maison Talbooth, a beautiful hotel and spa complex overlooking the Dedham Vale. The view and surroundings are amazingly stunning, and I am truly a sucker for a beautiful setting.
After being seated we were given a menu of a selection of teas to choose from including English Breakfast, Earl Grey to a variety of Green, Fruit and Chai Teas. Are the teas are brewed with loose leaves and you are supplied with a timer for you to choose if you would like it weak, medium or strong. Are also supplied with as much tea as you could possibly drink as well as offer a bottle of still or sparkling water.
For the “yum yum” as I call them, was a variety of 8 finger sandwiches including egg cress, ham salad, salmon and prawn cocktail. I only had the salmon and prawn cocktail as my friend who accompanied me is not a fan of seafood/ fish but I was happy with this as they were absolutely delicious, the bread for nice and fresh and the filling was just the right amount.
The selection of cakes was to die for; it included Lemon Drizzle, Cherry Bakewell, Chocolate Cupcake, Banana profiteroles and Vanilla Custard Puff. The great thing Maison Talbooth offer is a little cake box to take away if you don’t eat all your cakes so you don’t have to worry about wasting anything.
Last but by no means least (as I always save the best for last) was the scones, I absolutely LOVED them, they were served as fresh as they come and were still a little warm about 30 minutes are being served. They were obviously served with clotted cream and jam, which lead to me being in a little bit of a scone coma.
After we have finished our afternoon tea me and my friend went on a little nosey around the hotel and I just wanted to share some photos of the hotel as it is truly beautiful.
